She's inside, inside her safe, the contents of her soul locked tight, but it's the window, the shrouded window that she'd pull the curtains aside sometimes and just look at the kids playing outside. It's bloody and it's dangerous and really, Hana, it's better to stay inside but - but - but - (When they fall all she wants is to run outside and help them, but she's locked inside - ) and really they always come out all right in the end, battered but not broken, clinging together in a way comrades can, in a way the women waiting at home cannot understand. You say she ought to stay in the dark, to protect her, but please let's end this fanfare and admit that you think she's just not cut out for the pain.
